How is a children's museum different that a "regular" museum, you ask? And why is it so important to our community to build one?
Children's museums are the fastest growing sector of the overall museum industry for a good reason. They are not simply places where a child can go to view and perhaps even read about an object behind a glass case. What makes a children's museum so fantastic is it's ability to dovetail learning and play! By relating educational concepts to physical, colorful and interactive objects, education happens naturally. A child's mind is like a sponge and having fun helps children to soak up knowledge even faster!
One of the goals of the Fairbanks Children's Museum is to help support and grow the educational opportunities available to the youth in our community. By supporting the caregivers and families of children, we can help to extend education beyond the classroom on a daily basis.
