Why "Old Main"?
The preschool is new, but the name is rooted in Fairbanks history!
In the 1930s, due to growing demand and a recently burned down wooden schoolhouse, the Fairbanks community allocated funds to build Main School on Cushman Street - the building we all know as City Hall today. Many generations of students learned in this landmark, and after decades of learning, it was dedicated to become City Hall in the 1990s.
Today, we are incredibly pleased to bring education back to parts of this iconic building in the heart of downtown Fairbanks, and we are honored to play homage to its history by naming our facility "Old Main Preschool".
